The Oak Ridge Lady Wildcats moved to the quarterfinals, beating Rockcastle (Ky.) 60-43 as Khamari Mitchell-Steen turned in an offensive show with 29 points and eight rebounds.
Mitchell-Steen also tied a tournament individual record with nine steals in a game. The record is shared by several others over the 30-year history of the event.
The Wildcats led by a slender 14-13 margin after one quarter, but really turned up the heat in the second frame, going on a 21-0 run to take control of the contest. They led 35-20 at the halftime horn.
In addition to Mitchell-Steen’s 29 points, Bri Dunbar scored 12 and Raja Eckles added 11 for the winners.
Rockcastle suffered its first loss of the year after nine wins. Casey Coleman led their point production with 18 while Hallie Brown scored eight.
