BEES WIN CLASSIC CONSOLATION GAME

Two Class AA programs that will be heard of plenty the rest of the season, Upperman and Meigs County, staged a classic battle for third place in the Ladies Classic, with the Bees going overtime to beat Meigs 58-54.

The two teams were knotted at 50-50 at the close of regulation, but Torie Brooks knocked down a three to start the extra frame and gave Upperman the lead for keeps. Reagan Hurst blocked a Meigs shot, then came down and got a basket to give the Bees a 55-50 lead.

Meigs closed to 56-54 with 26 seconds to go, but Hurst was clutch at the foul line and her two shots with 18 seconds left sealed the deal.

Meigs staged a good rally in the final three minutes of regulation. They trailed 49-43 with 1:48 left, but battled back to knot the score at 50-50 on a basket by Ella Crowder with 12 seconds left. Upperman missed a layup at the four second mark that would have ended things in regulation.

Meigs County got 15 points from Anna Crowder, 14 from Jaci Powell and 11 from Ella Crowder.
