Lanier High’s Lady Longhorns of Georgia saw North Greene make a terrific second half rally, but managed to stave off the bid and earned a 49-41 win.

Lanier led by as many as 14 points late in the third quarter after taking a 21-13 halftime lead. But North Greene was scrappy, despite a horrid day shooting from the field, and managed to cut the gap to four points late in the game but could get no closer.

Zuriyah Davis tossed in 35 points, the best offensive performance to date in the tourney, to lead the Longhorns. Christabel Ezumah, 6-3, came within one blocked shot of tying the tournament individual game record as she blocked eight in the game. Lizzie Campbell had 11 rebounds.

North Greene caused the Longhorns trouble with their defense, forcing 23 turnovers. But they could not overcome the poor shooting on the day (13-61, 21 percent, 3-24 from 3-point range). Brooklyn Anderson had a big night with 14 points, 16 rebounds and seven steals. Shelby Davenport scored nine.

The Longhorns will play Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the fifth place game.
