The North Greene Huskies survived a torrid Archer High rally in the third quarter, recovered down the stretch and advanced to the tournament quarterfinals with a 44-38 win over the Lady Tigers from Lawrenceville, Ga.
Junior Haleigh Bernard had a big game for North Greene, pumping in 20 points to lead all players in scoring. Brooklyn Anderson had nine points and 12 rebounds to assist.
The Huskies controlled a 27-16 halftime lead, but Archer came out red hot in the third, converting NG mistakes into points and going on an 11-0 run to tie the contest at 27-27 with 4 minutes to go. Archer was never able to gain the lead and the two teams settled for a 31-31 draw going into the final period.
Bernard had a strong final quarter and her bucket followed by a pair of free throws at the midway point had North Greene (11-3) back up 41-34. Archer could get no closer than five the rest of the way.
Cazia Nelson scored 16 and Taniya McGowan had 13 for Archer (7-5).
