(Game 6) Upperman 81, West Greene 25

Upperman High’s Sadie South put on a shooting clinic, scoring 36 points and setting two tournament records in helping her team outdistance West Greene 81-25.

South set a new Ladies Classic 3-point record, making 10 of the long ones in the victory, passing the old record of nine held by Karli Haworth of Alcoa in the 2022 tournament. She also bypassed the mark of most 3-point attempts in a game, firing up 22 from behind the arc. The old record was 18 held by Tamara Taylor of Boca Ciega (Fla.) in the 2010 event.

As a team Upperman shot the long ball 34 times, which was tied for second in the record book behind the 36 attempts by Sycamore High in the 2008 tournament.

With two starters sidelined with illness, the Lady Buffs fell behind 15-5 after one quarter and could not sustain their offense in the second quarter, trailing 46-8 at halftime.

In addition to South’s 36 points, Taylor Dolente scored 18 and Auburn Johnson added 12. Upperman improves to 15-1.

West Greene was led by Morgan Brown and Payton Norton with six points each. Joie Shipley had 14 rebounds and five points.
