It was a game of big runs, and Knox Catholic got two of them, the last one of which did in the Greeneville Lady Devils as the Irish rolled to a 74-51 victory Friday at Hal Henard Gym in the first semifinal game in the Ladies Classic.

Leading by a meager 32-26 advantage at halftime, Catholic went on a 19-2 run in the first five minutes of the third quarter and spread the gap to 51-28. After a Greeneville timeout, the Devils responded with a 12-1 run the rest of the quarter to get back in it, trailing 52-42 at the horn.

The scoreboard read 58-48 with about six minutes to go, then Catholic used a 7-0 run to again spread the gap and this time the Devils had no answer.

Sydney Mains had a nice stat sheet on the night with 29 points, four assists, six rebounds and a steal to lead the Irish. Logan Connaster and Caroliine Krueger pitched in with 12 points, while guard Jazmin Williams netted seven points, six assists and 11 rebounds.

Lauren Bailey knocked down 22 points to pace the Lady Devils, who shot only 33 percent from the field for the game. Lindy Carter put together a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Chloe Marsh also scored 11.

The victory moves Catholic into Saturday night’s 5 p.m. championship game, while the Lady Devils will play for third place at 3:30.
