(Game 29) Farmington (Ark) 60, Upperman 52
The Farmington Cardinals from Arkansas staged a furious fourth quarter comeback and beat Upperman 60-52 Monday night. The win advances Farmington into the fifth place game against Bearden Tuesday at 2 p.m.
Down 44-38 entering the fourth period, the Cardinals went wild offensively, going on a 20-7 run to overcome the Bees and jump into the lead. Minnesota signee Zoey Bershers knocked down a pair of 3-pointers, the second of which pushed them into a 49-48 lead with 4:16 left. Upperman got it back even at 49-49, but would never lead again as Kaycee McCumber hit back-to-back baskets and things seemed to fall apart for the Bees’ offense.
Easton McCullough had 16 points and six assists to lead Farmington. She had plenty of offensive support as Marlin Adams, Bershers and Morgan Uher each added 11 each.
Upperman got 19 points from Taylor Dolente, 18 from Gracie Butler and 10 from Sadie South.
Farmington plays Bearden at 2 p.m. Tuesday for fifth place in the Classic.
