NEW SCORING RECORD SET
Farmington’s Easton McCullough set a new Classic scoring mark for most points in a tournament with 143 Wednesday as her Cardinals defeated Greeneville 84-67 for fifth place in the annual event.
McCullough, only a sophomore, led her team to victory with 38 points while dishing out eight assists and collecting six rebounds.
McCullough’s teammates didn’t do too shabby in the scoring department either as Sadie Morrison had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds and Rheid Shirey and Reese Thornton each bucketed a dozen points.
Greeneville got a stellar effort from Maria Hyde who scored 24 points, while Brylee Tullock tallied 21 with five assists. Jordan Swatzell scored 11.
Farmington led 21-15 after one period and 48-32 at halftime. The Lady Devils trailed 63-44 with 2:45 left in the third when they went on an 11-2 scoring run to get back ino it at 65-55 at the horn. Greeneville went on to close to 65-57 but could get no closer as the potent Cardinals had too many weapons.
