Cocke County got back on the winning track Friday afternoon, moving past Mercy Academy of Louisville, Ky., 64-57.

The game was back-and-forth most of the way until the winning Lady Red gained the upper hand with an 11-2 run over a two minute stretch late in the game to put some breathing room between themselves and Mercy.

Cocke County did it at the free throw line in the spurt, making nine straight at one point as Mercy went cold from the floor and made a couple of floor miscues. Blakely Clevenger made four of the free tosses.

Mercy led 31-27 at halftime, but the Lady Red came back to go up 43-42 heading into the fourth.

Clevenger finished with 20 points and four assists for Cocke County. Shakyra Reed scored 14.

Mercy was paced by Abby Reitzel with 14 points and Addyson Becker scored 13. Hadley O’Bryan netted 11 while Peyton Arnold scored 10 points and yanked off 14 rebounds.
