Upperman High of Baxter, a regular visitor of late to the Ladies Classic, made their return to this year’s edition successful with a first round win over Gaffney of South Carolina 61-34.
The Lady Bees (10-4) got off to a good first quarter start with an 18-6 run and never looked back, spreading their advantage to 33-19 at the half. After a third quarter draw in points scored, the Bees put it away with an 18-5 scoring surge in the final period.
Taylor Dolente and Sadie South shared scoring honors for the winners with 14 points each and Gracie Butler added 11. Maggie Butler yanked off eight rebounds.
Shiriah Harris was the only double digit scorer for Gaffney with 14 points. Tianah Hopper hit double figures in rebounds with 10 and added seven points.
