University of Missouri signee Natalya Hodge and her Bearden High teammates blitzed the Coalfield Yellow Jackets 80-60 Saturday in an opening round game.
Hodge scored 33 points and added four rebounds, four assists and four steals in guiding the Bulldogs to the win. Bearden started strong with a 23-18 first quarter lead and they rapidly increased that margin in the second frame, holding a 48-28 lead at intermission. The lead grew to 30 points in the third period.
Emma Rainey netted 16 points in support for Bearden (12-2).
Mattie Beard had 18 points including six 3-pointers to pace the Jackets (10-3). Lily Wright and Lillyclaire Lowe each scored 16 points.
