Spring Valley of West Virginia completely turned the ball game around in the fourth quarter, outscoring Coalfield 27-6 and rallying from a 16-point third quarter deficit to win a 62-53 thriller.

Sophie Hutchison of the winners set a new Classic tournament record by collecting 11 steals in the game, shattering the old mark of nine held by several players. She also led her team in scoring with 21 points and had six assists. Brooklyn Ellis scored 16.

The Jackets of Coalfield did not have a good shooting night, and things fell apart in the final period. They used a 12-0 third quarter run to break from a 34-30 lead to a big 46-30 advantage. Lillyclaire Lowe led that charge by scoring 10 of those points and finishing with 29 for the night.

But Spring Valley used a 14-0 surge in the fourth, led by Ellis and Emma Edwards, and by the time the smoke cleared they had rallied into the lead and just kept widening the gap.

Lily Wright added 15 points and 11 rebounds to the Coalfield attack.
