In what had to be one of the most impressive performances of the tournament thus far, Daniel Boone knocked out last year’s tourney runnerup, Knox Webb, with a 73-57 victory.
Boone had three players score at least 20 points. Aaliyah Story had a big night with 21 points, 17 rebounds, and tied a tournament record with nine blocked shots. Laney Britton was top scorer with 22 points, and Andrea Flores scored 20.
Meeyah Green scored 15 points and had 15 rebounds to lead the Webb Spartans.
The Blazers of Boone broke it open in the third quarter. Up 31-29 at halftime, Boone’s Flores, Story and Britton went on an offensive tear in a 25-14 scoring surge to gain a 56-43 lead. Webb could not put up a serious challenge in the final period.
Webb set a tournament record for most 3-pointers attempted in a game with 40, breaking the old record of 36.
