Webb School of Knoxville outdueled Cocke County 55-49 to advance in tournament play Saturday.

The Lady Spartans trailed 25-22 at halftime and the Lady Red got the first bucket of the second half to up 27-22. But Webb responded with eight straight points to take the lead at 30-27 and they were never trailed in the game again.

Cocke County kept it a 3-point game until 1:42 left in the third, then Webb got five straight to up the lead to 39-31. To make matters worse for the Lady Red, ace scorer Karmine Carmichael got her fourth foul and had to take some time on the bench late into the third quarter.

Six consecutive tallies to start the fourth left Webb in a 48-35 advantage, and Cocke County never got closer than seven the remainder of the contest. Webb (11-2) got 15 points apiece from Meeyah Green and Kyndall Mays. Cocke County (13-3) was led by Ava Wheeler with 15, Carmichael with 12 points and 11 rebounds, and Blakelyn Clevenger with 10.
