Game 6 – Knox Webb 65, Bearden 45

Bearden is not the first team to arrive at the Ladies Classic with an unblemished record and leave town with at least one loss on their slate, and they turned into the latest victim as fellow Knoxville rival Webb School posted a 65-47 upset win Wednesday.

The Lady Bulldogs came into the day with an 11-0 record and jumped out to a quick 9-0 start against the Lady Spartans. But the momentum began to swing in the second quarter. The Spartans had closed to 28-25 by halftime, and they proceeded to take their first lead of the contest with 4:30 left in the third when Katelyn Overton hit a rebound putback to push them into a 32-31 lead.

Webb would not trail again. They were up 42-37 by the end of the third. Bearden got a bucket from behind the arc by Aisha Patel a minute into the final quarter to pull Bearden to within 44-40. But the wheels completely came off the Bulldog attack at that point as Webb went on a 19-0 run that turned the tight contest into a no-doubter.

Webb (11-4) got 19 points from Brooklyn Bush to lead the offense. Mary Mac Emory scored 12 and Cailyn Taylor added 10. Meeyah Green had nine points, five assists and seven rebounds.

Bearden (11-1) was led by Natayla Hodge with 15 points. Kendall Anne Murphy had 12 points and eight rebounds. The Bulldogs shot only 30 percent from the floor for the game (14-47). Webb hit 51 percent (25-49).
