Game 29 – North Greene 45, Daniel Boone 42

North Greene’s Lady Huskies have won three games in the Ladies Classic for the first time ever, thanks to a 45-42 win over Daniel Boone Friday night.

The Lady Huskies took advantage of a poor shooting night by the Blazers (14-55 for 25 percent) and held off a late charge after building a lead of as many as 13 points in a solid effort by the Huskies.

Haley Bailey turned in another pure performance, soring 19 points and hauling in 16 rebounds. Her sidekick at post, Hannah Miller, was also in her element with 13 points and 13 rebounds as the duo combined for 32 of the team’s 45 total score.

The Huskies were up 16-9 after one period and maintained that lead at 27-19 at intermission. The lead grew to as many as 13 in the third before the Huskies settled for a 35-25 lead heading down the home stretch.

A layup by Bailey had the Huskies up 42-36 with 1:30 to go, but the Blazers finally made a 3-pointer by Lillie Walters to carve the deficit down to 42-39 with 1:02 left. Both teams then made a turnover, and Miller was fouled and sank both tosses with 36 seconds to go. Another throwaway by the Blazers allowed the Huskies to get another free throw from Bailey and a 45-39 at the 27 seconds mark. That would make a late 3-pointer by Josie Jenkiins irrelevant and NG had escaped.

Jayden Riddle had 11 points for Boone. Kyleigh Bacon had eight points and 14 rebounds.

North Greene will play Bearden in the sixth place game Saturday.
