The Lady Blazers of Boone and South Greene’s Lady Rebs staged a competitive game from start to finish with Boone coming away a 76-67 winner.

Boone led most of the way but could never put the game out of reach as South Greene kept battling back. It was 30-27 at halftime in favor of the Blazers and Emma Cutshall’s hoop to start the third cut it to a single point. But Boone never let the Rebs take the lead, moving up by seven before SG cut it back to 40-38 on Kortnei Bailey’s 3-pointer with 3:12 left in the third.

But Boone closed the quarter strong, going on a 12-3 run to the period’s end to up their lead to 52-41. The Rebs chopped the deficit to six several times down the stretch but could get no closer.

Boone’s Kyleigh Bacon scored 19 and had 11 rebounds for a double-double effort. Lillie Walters scored 15 and Jayden Riddle had 11. The Blazers enjoyed a huge 34-16 advantage in rebounding.

South Greene got 19 points, five assists and five rebounds from Cutshall and 19 more points from Bailey. Hailey Brooks scored 15 and dished out seven assists.
